Hi, I’m Sue Wright — author of How To Get Your Shit Together. These short, punchy episodes cut through the fluff to give you real talk, practical tools, and no-BS coaching. I’ve faced serious life storms and made it out stronger — now I help you build the mental grit to do the same. Raw, honest, and a little bit sweary (because sometimes nothing else hits quite the same). www.coachsue.co.uk

Understanding Conflicting Emotions
Monday Jul 19, 2021
Monday Jul 19, 2021
In this episode, I talk about something we’ve all experienced — conflicting emotions. I share a real story (with permission!) about a client navigating the heartbreak of a breakup. She felt devastated and sad about her partner’s affair — but also angry with herself for feeling that way, calling herself “pathetic.”
Sound familiar? That inner conflict can feel like a battleground.
I explain how we all carry different personas — the wounded one who feels hurt and lost, and the one ready to set boundaries and stand strong. The trick? Treat those emotions like you would treat a friend. You wouldn’t shame your mate for feeling pain. You’d show compassion. So why not give that to yourself?
We also explore how all emotions have purpose — even the uncomfortable ones. Sadness, anger, shame, anxiety... they’re messengers asking for action. Maybe it’s rest, maybe it’s change, maybe it’s just allowing yourself to feel.
And if you’re facing your own emotional tangle right now — you don’t have to do it alone.
Coaching isn’t just for the “rich and fluffy.” It’s for anyone who wants clarity, confidence, and real tools to take back their power. If you’re struggling with emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, or feeling stuck in your story, this is the work that can shift everything.
👉 Let’s talk. Seriously. You’re not too broken. You’re not too far gone. You’re exactly where you need to be to take the next step.

Team Training: Strengthen Your Inner Squad for Real-Life Resilience
Tuesday Jul 20, 2021
Tuesday Jul 20, 2021
In this episode, I talk again about personas—your internal “team” that helps you navigate life. Think of them as different aspects of you: the dreamer, the nurturer, the planner, the strategist. But sometimes, your team needs fresh energy. Maybe someone’s gone quiet, or maybe you need to recruit a new internal ally to step up.
For me, the businesswoman in my team is not naturally dominant—my drive is to help people, not chase conventional success. So, I drew inspiration from someone I saw on TV—someone driven and strong but also real, rebellious, and grounded like me. It's okay to “borrow” those traits and make them part of your own internal team.
This episode is all about learning to check in with your inner crew, figure out who’s thriving, who’s struggling, and who needs backup. Sometimes, your mindset just needs a reshuffle—and that’s where the growth happens.

Emotional Intelligence, Emotional Resilience or just Emotional Health?
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Emotions aren’t good or bad—they’re just emotions. But they can drag us into a spiral if we’re not paying attention. This episode dives into emotional intelligence and resilience, and how learning to observe, explore, and understand our emotions can make a huge difference to our mental health. I talk about being curious instead of reactive, and share insights from The Language of Emotions by Karla McLaren—including her brilliant idea of a “conscious complaining” session. (Spoiler: mine happened in the car, to the birds and the trees!) It's all about giving emotions the space to be felt, voiced, and moved through—so they don’t get stuck.
If this resonates, explore my self-study courses on the website—they’re affordable, practical, and designed to support your emotional wellbeing (without the fluff).

Getting Your 'Here & Now' Shit Together
Thursday Jul 22, 2021
Thursday Jul 22, 2021
This episode is a hands-on exercise straight from my book and courses. You can’t move forward until you know where you’re starting from—so this tool helps you figure out where your energy is currently going and where it needs to go.
I talk through the method I use to check in with my life categories—like family, friends, work, home, animals, and self—rating each one out of ten. The real game-changer? Noticing which ones are low, and also listening to your gut about which ones feel like they need attention. Sometimes the lowest-scoring area isn’t the one that needs work first—your intuition will guide you.
It’s a practical, powerful way to gain clarity and recalibrate your focus—especially when things feel a bit chaotic. Because let’s be honest—you can’t get your shit together until you know where your shit is.
This exercise is part of my book and my self-study course library—check them out on the website if you want easy, structured ways to get back on track without the faff.

Have To, Need To, Should, Must: Change Your Language For Positive Results
Friday Jul 23, 2021
Friday Jul 23, 2021
This episode is all about the sneaky power of language—specifically phrases like have to, need to, should, and must. These words seem harmless, but they can seriously sap your motivation and make everyday tasks feel like heavy obligations. Why? Because they carry an underlying threat—do this or else—and that’s not exactly inspiring.
Instead, I explain how you can reframe these statements using some classic CBT-style tools. For example, shifting from “I have to finish this project” to “I can’t wait to finish this—it’ll move my business forward” makes a huge difference in mindset. The language you use with yourself (and others) matters, and this small tweak can change how you feel about what’s on your to-do list.
For more tools like this, check out the self-study courses on my website—practical, powerful, and designed for real people, not robots.

The Kitchen Drawer - Clearing Out Your Mental Clutter
Monday Jul 26, 2021
Monday Jul 26, 2021
You know that drawer in the kitchen—the one full of random batteries, takeaway menus, string, and mystery keys? Our minds can be just like that: cluttered with beliefs, memories, and unhelpful thoughts that we’ve shoved out of sight but never dealt with. These mental scraps can seriously slow us down or keep us stuck.
In this episode, I talk about how we store thoughts that might have been useful once but now just take up space—like outdated beliefs about what we “can’t do,” or assumptions we’ve never challenged. I share how to assess the truth of those beliefs, score them, and explore other possibilities.
You’ll also hear about the Kinetic Shift hypnotherapy I use with clients—a powerful way to help clear out the mental junk drawer and start backfilling your mindset with more helpful, grounded thoughts.
If you’re tired of your internal kitchen drawer overflowing, my remote Kinetic Shift sessions might help you clear space for better things. Reach out via the website to learn more.

Vulnerability: Friend or Foe?
Tuesday Jul 27, 2021
Tuesday Jul 27, 2021
Feeling vulnerable often gets a bad rap—it can make us feel exposed, weak, or a bit pathetic. But what if vulnerability isn’t a sign of weakness at all? What if it’s your subconscious sending up a flare, saying pay attention—something’s not quite right?
In this episode, I reframe vulnerability as a wake-up call. When you're feeling on edge or unusually sensitive, it’s rarely random. It’s usually your inner world asking you to pause, reflect, and explore. Maybe something needs changing, or maybe your boundaries need attention. Either way, vulnerability can be a powerful prompt—not a problem to ignore.
If this episode resonates and you’d like to explore these feelings in a supportive, structured way, check out my 1:1 coaching or self-study courses - they’re designed to help you work with your emotions, not against them.

Don’t Like Yourself? Here’s Why Purpose Might Be Missing
Wednesday Jul 28, 2021
Wednesday Jul 28, 2021
If you don’t really like who you are—or struggle to feel comfortable in your own skin—it can lead to all sorts of coping habits: people-pleasing, over-giving, chasing external validation, or filling the void with shopping, attention, or distractions. But at the root of it? You might just be disconnected from your purpose.
In this episode, I explore how not living a purposeful life can chip away at your self-worth. We look at the difference between your strengths and your true purpose, and why knowing where you want to be—rather than where the world has slotted you—is a game-changer. Liking yourself is possible, but it starts with reconnecting to who you are and why you matter.
If this hits home, take a look at my coaching or self-study resources—they’re designed to help you stop outsourcing your worth and start living on your own terms.

Energy: Welcome To My WooWoo World!
Thursday Jul 29, 2021
Thursday Jul 29, 2021
Ever walk away from someone and feel suddenly anxious, drained, or off-kilter—despite being fine before? You’re not imagining it. This episode explores the concept of energetic influence—how our personal vibe can be affected by other people, groups, and even places. I explain the idea of entrainment, where stronger energies (like fast-paced city crowds or emotionally intense individuals) can subtly sync with your own. Whether it’s a shift in mood or tension in your body, recognising what’s yours and what’s theirs is the first step in reclaiming your emotional balance. I share a light example from the energy work I once did with a horse—yes, really—and how being more attuned to energy can help you understand and protect your state of mind.

It Doesn't Have To Be Perfect
Friday Jul 30, 2021
Friday Jul 30, 2021
erfectionism can keep you stuck—waiting, tweaking, hesitating—until the “right time” that never arrives. In this episode, I share my own journey with perfectionism, and how I used to delay launching podcasts, courses, and sales pages until they were pristine. But here’s the truth: your people don’t need perfect—they need useful. They need real. We talk about how perfection is subjective, how striving for it can hold you back from progress, and how aiming for “good enough for now” can be a more powerful driver of change. I also explore how expecting perfection in others—relationships, friends, colleagues—can create unnecessary tension. Sometimes the best step is the next one, not the flawless one.
Ready to ditch the perfection trap and take real action? My self-study courses are built to help you move forward—imperfectly but powerfully.
