Hi, I’m Sue Wright — author of How To Get Your Shit Together. These short, punchy episodes cut through the fluff to give you real talk, practical tools, and no-BS coaching. I’ve faced serious life storms and made it out stronger — now I help you build the mental grit to do the same. Raw, honest, and a little bit sweary (because sometimes nothing else hits quite the same). www.coachsue.co.uk

The Power (of the) Nap — Why Rest Makes You More Productive
Monday Jul 05, 2021
Monday Jul 05, 2021
We’ve been sold the myth that the more we push, the more we’ll achieve. But if you’re dragging yourself through the day, foggy, cranky, and barely functioning, what are you actually achieving?
In this episode, I’m making the case for the mighty midday nap — or at the very least, a proper pause. Whether it’s ten minutes of stillness, half an hour of zoning out, or a gentle lie-down with your eyes closed, taking time to stop is not laziness — it’s strategy.
We talk about:
-
Why tired brains lie to you
-
How rest unlocks clarity and creativity
-
Napping for answers (yes, really)
-
How to body-scan and reset your nervous system
This isn’t about curling up under a duvet (though it could be). It’s about permission to press pause — because powering through when you’re wrecked doesn’t make you strong, it just makes you slower.
🧠 Topics Covered:
-
Power naps and micro-rest
-
Listening to your body’s energy signals
-
How to reset during the workday
-
Overcoming guilt around rest
-
Boosting productivity through pausing

Do You Know Your Achilles Heel? How Knowing Your Weakness Makes You Stronger
Tuesday Jul 06, 2021
Tuesday Jul 06, 2021
We all have one — that soft spot that gets poked when we feel vulnerable. For me, it’s the old belief that I’m not good enough. And when that gets triggered, I shrink. I hesitate. I hand over my power.
In this episode, we dive into the concept of your Achilles Heel — that one belief, story, or inner critic that gets in your way over and over again. I explore how to identify it, trace it back to where it came from, and most importantly, how to take back your strength by owning it.
You’ll learn:
-
Why knowing your weakness is actually a superpower
-
How small compromises to please others chip away at your self-worth
-
The difference between a real limitation and a learned belief
-
How to stop giving away your energy and authenticity
-
How to question and reframe inherited self-doubt
This is about awareness, not perfection. It’s not about fixing yourself — it’s about recognising the root of that old fear and giving yourself permission to challenge it.
🧠 Topics Covered:
-
Self-awareness and emotional intelligence
-
Vulnerability and triggers
-
People-pleasing patterns
-
Reclaiming personal power
-
Childhood belief systems
-
Limiting beliefs and mindset reframes

Quick & Easy Techniques To Help Deal With Doubts
Wednesday Jul 07, 2021
Wednesday Jul 07, 2021
Self-doubt can strike at any time — especially when our Achilles heel gets triggered (as we explored in Episode 12). In this episode, we dive into two powerful and practical tools to help manage those moments of uncertainty: the RAIN technique and the STOP technique. These simple, effective practices can help you slow down spiraling thoughts, reconnect with your body, and re-engage your rational brain when anxiety hits.
🔸 R – Recognize what’s going on
🔸 A – Allow the experience to be there, just as it is
🔸 I – Investigate with interest and care (including how it shows up in the body)
🔸 N – Nurture with kindness
We also break down the STOP technique:
🔹 S – Stop
🔹 T – Take a breath
🔹 O – Observe what’s happening
🔹 P – Proceed with purpose
Whether your doubts come from old beliefs or recent stressors, these tools give you a way to pause, process, and pivot. They’re quick, accessible, and easy to remember — perfect for keeping in your back pocket for those tough moments.
🎧 Tune in for a calming, practical conversation full of real-life examples and gentle strategies to help you feel more grounded and confident in daily life.

To Dream Or Not To Dream?
Thursday Jul 08, 2021
Thursday Jul 08, 2021
🎙️ Episode 14: To Dream or Not to Dream
Should we be dreaming of a bigger, brighter future—or is that just distracting us from the here and now? In this episode, I explore the balance between planning ahead and being fully present. Yes, dream big—but not because you're chasing happiness or trying to fix something within by changing your external world. True contentment doesn’t come from a postcode, a new job, or a shiny new plan. It comes from you.
I talk about the importance of having one foot in now and one foot in your dream life, enjoying the present while allowing space for the future to unfold. You don’t need a five-year plan just because your friends have one. If you’re happy now, amazing—stay there. And if you’re not sure what the dream even looks like, listen out for those nudges from the universe. You don’t need a map—just a willingness to follow the little detours that show up.
Because life isn’t always a straight line—and thank goodness for that.
🎧 Listen in for:
-
The difference between planning vs. chasing
-
Why “fixing your life” won’t fix your feelings
-
Why nudges and random urges might be leading you somewhere great
-
Permission to be happy now—and still dream later
🎧 I hope you enjoyed this episode

Before you roll your eyes — this is not a fluffy, wafty Law of Attraction episode. In this episode, I share how the concept of “ask, believe, receive” (yes, from The Secret) can work — but only if you actually get up and do the work.
I talk about how I personally use visualisation as a tool to motivate myself, to refocus when I’m feeling lost, and to remind myself of the why behind my goals. I explain how your energy and mood can spiral either way — so when everything feels heavy, these tools help pull you back toward what lights you up.
We also dig into mental rehearsal — not just for athletes or execs — and vision boards (which aren’t magic portals but are amazing prompts to keep your eye on the prize). Plus, I share why your vision board is allowed to evolve — because dreams do too.
💬 It’s a down-to-earth conversation about staying connected to your vision and doing the groundwork — even when life throws the inevitable crap at you.

Dealing With Frustration: Yes or No is the solution
Monday Jul 12, 2021
Monday Jul 12, 2021
We all hit those moments when things just don’t go to plan — like my computer completely refusing to play the game this week. Frustration can spiral fast into anxiety and overwhelm, leaving you feeling like your thoughts are running the show (and not in a good way).
In this episode, I talk about what to do when you’re stuck, frazzled, and nothing’s working. The solution? It starts with one very simple question:
Can I do anything about this?
Yes or no.
If the answer is no, let it go (for now).
If the answer is yes, take one small step toward a solution — or get the help you need. There’s no shame in asking for help, especially when someone else might already have the experience to move things forward more quickly and easily than you can alone.
So if you’re stuck in a funk or fighting with something that’s winding you up, hit play and take a few minutes to reset.
🎧 Listen now and make space for clarity.

Money: Take Control So It Doesn't Control You
Tuesday Jul 13, 2021
Tuesday Jul 13, 2021
Money. We all need it, but we rarely talk about it — not with friends, not with family, and often not even with ourselves.
In this episode, I dig into the weird and often emotional relationship we have with money — especially the discomfort and silence that surrounds it. I share how money (or the lack of it) can shake the foundations of our security, linking it to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs — where food, shelter, and safety all depend on financial stability.
We explore how different attitudes to money can cause tension in relationships — one person may see money as power and freedom, while the other might have a more relaxed, “if it’s there, great — if not, oh well” approach.
I also talk openly about my own experience of having nothing — literally nothing — and how that fear of not having enough can drive us into burnout if we let it control us.
But here's the thing: you can take the reins. I talk about the importance of knowing your numbers — your incomings, your outgoings, and your financial reality — so that you can start to build a plan and take back control. We even touch on manifesting a financial figure you’d like to reach — not in a “magic wand” kind of way, but in a grounded, practical “what’s possible?” kind of way.
And yes, even having lots of money can come with its own challenges — from people taking advantage to questioning who’s genuinely in your life for you, not your bank balance.
This episode is a no-fluff, real-world look at how to feel empowered around money — whatever your current financial reality looks like.
🎧 Tune in for practical, honest insight into how to take control of your finances — before they control you.

Thought, Belief, Action - Three Powerful Words
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
If you were to type Thought, Belief, Action into a search engine, you'd probably come across topics like Emotional Intelligence, CBT, or even a quote from Gandhi. And for good reason — these three little words are at the heart of how we operate as humans.
In this episode, I unpack the powerful link between your thoughts, your beliefs, and your actions — and how they influence each other in ways you might not even realise.
We start with beliefs — those quiet assumptions you’ve filed away over the years, often during childhood. Maybe you believe you’re “bad with money” or “not good enough.” But is that actually true? Or is it just an outdated belief that’s been running the show for far too long?
Because here’s the thing: beliefs shape your thoughts, and those thoughts influence your actions — or in some cases, your inaction. If you believe you’re going to fail, you’ll likely talk yourself out of even trying.
But you can change that cycle.
In this episode, I talk about how to:
-
Spot unhelpful beliefs and reframe them
-
Harness the power of intentional thought
-
Take action — even imperfect, hesitant action — with self-compassion
-
Use your words and internal dialogue to set the tone for your day (and your life)
This isn’t about fake positivity. It’s about building awareness, taking small but powerful steps, and choosing to write a new story — one where your beliefs support you instead of sabotage you.
🎧 Tune in for a fresh perspective on three words that could quite literally change your life.

A Worry, is a Worry, is a Worry.
Thursday Jul 15, 2021
Thursday Jul 15, 2021
This one’s a bit of a personal week-in-review — a peek behind the curtain at some of the chaos and curveballs life has thrown my way lately. But more than that, it’s a gentle reminder that whatever you’re worrying about right now, it’s valid.
In this episode, I reflect on:
-
The ups and (many) downs of the week
-
How I’ve managed to stay (mostly!) positive throughout
-
The truth that your worry matters, no matter how it compares to someone else’s
Yes, some people might be facing huge, life-changing challenges — like my friend whose ranch in Canada was under threat from wildfires. But that doesn’t mean your smaller, day-to-day worries don’t count. A worry is a worry is a worry.
You don’t need to rank your struggles or justify your stress. What you do need is to acknowledge your feelings and take action where you can.
This episode is for anyone who’s had a week, who’s feeling a bit overwhelmed, or who needs permission to stop minimising their emotions. I’ve got you.
Key message: Your feelings are valid — and your job is to work with them, not fight them.

Random Acts of Kindness: Let's All Be Nice!
Friday Jul 16, 2021
Friday Jul 16, 2021
Episode 20: Random Acts of Kindness – Let’s All Be Nice
This short and sweet feel-good Friday episode is all about kindness — the spontaneous, everyday kind that can completely change someone’s day. I’m talking about those little gestures: a genuine compliment, a warm smile, a helping hand.
We’re often hesitant to speak up or step forward — especially in big cities where smiling at strangers can make you feel like the odd one out. But when was the last time someone told you that you looked nice? That you had a great smile? That your energy lit up the room? It feels amazing — and it costs nothing.
So today, I’m inviting you to join me in spreading some joy. For the next 24 hours, go out of your way to do something kind. Compliment someone. Help a stranger. Pay it forward. Because the world always needs a little more kindness.
Let’s make it a little brighter — one small act at a time.
