My Journey Through Survival Mode #10: What Happens Next?
Tuesday Jun 02, 2026
Tuesday Jun 02, 2026
Recognising survival mode is only the beginning.
For me, the real challenge started when I began feeling better.
The temptation was to come back fighting. To do everything at once. To make up for lost time.
But recovery doesn't work like that.
In this final episode of the series, I share what happened after the trip, why pacing myself became essential, and how I learned to rebuild in a way that supported my nervous system rather than overwhelming it all over again.
We explore:
- why doing too much too soon can send you backwards
- the importance of finding your own "reset point"
- remembering who you were before life knocked you off course
- recognising what has resonated throughout this series
- and taking small, meaningful steps towards change
Because awareness is powerful.
But awareness without action changes nothing.
If something in this series has struck a chord, this episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask yourself:
"What am I going to do with what I've learned?"
Recovery isn't about becoming someone new.
It's about finding your way back to yourself.

Lid Lifters and Finding Your Thrive
Tuesday Jun 09, 2026
Tuesday Jun 09, 2026
I'm more interested in what makes life feel good now, rather than getting stuck in the gloom of what has been.
In this episode, I share a simple exercise my coach gave me: identifying my "lid lifters" — the things that make me feel energised, engaged and more like myself.
Not what I should be doing.
Not what looks good on paper.
Not what everyone else expects.
The things that genuinely make me come alive.
We explore:
- what thriving actually means
- why success looks different for everyone
- listening to what feels right for you
- recognising what drains you versus what lifts you
- and why creating a life you enjoy starts with paying attention
For me, thriving isn't about chasing more.
It's about autonomy.
Creativity.
Learning.
Transforming things.
Growing things.
Building a life that feels like mine.
So here's the question:
What are your lid lifters?
Because once you know what helps you thrive, you can start creating more of it.

Affirmations... But Not As You Know Them!
Monday Jun 15, 2026
Monday Jun 15, 2026
If most affirmations make you roll your eyes, this episode is for you.
You know the sort:
"I align my multidimensional energy with the infinite quantum field..."
What?!
Personally, I prefer something a little more direct.
Things like:
- Only YOU can do this.
- Work = money = fun stuff.
- Wafting around being a victim isn't you – go kick ass.
In this episode, I explore why affirmations don't have to be fluffy, complicated, or sound like they've been written by a crystal-loving wizard on a spiritual retreat.
We talk about:
- creating affirmations that actually mean something to you
- the stories you tell yourself every day
- why your body listens to the words you use
- taking up space instead of shrinking
- and how changing the way you carry yourself can change the way you feel
Because sometimes the most powerful mindset shifts aren't found in deep analysis.
Sometimes they're found in standing a little taller, breathing a little deeper, and reminding yourself who the hell you are.
And yes, there is a supermarket experiment involved.

Getting On My Last Nerve!
Monday Jun 22, 2026
Monday Jun 22, 2026
Ever had one of those weeks where you just annoy yourself?
That’s been my week.
The more I've searched for answers — where to live, what to focus on, what comes next — the less clear everything has become.
So instead of finding solutions, I found myself disappearing down rabbit holes, getting frustrated, and generally getting on my own last nerve.
In this episode, I share:
- why trying too hard often creates more confusion
- the challenge of having too many options
- recognising when you're spiralling into overthinking
- getting out of your head and back into your body
- and why sometimes the answer isn't doing more... it's stepping away
We also touch on ADHD hyperfocus, nervous system recovery, giving your inner team something productive to do, and the ongoing battle between an ambitious brain and a body that's still catching up.
Because sometimes the biggest breakthrough isn't finding the answer.
It's recognising that you've wandered off track and gently bringing yourself back.

Look After Yourself, No Bugger Else Will
Monday Jun 29, 2026
Monday Jun 29, 2026
One sentence. One hospital room. A lifetime of wisdom.
When I was in my twenties, my Grandad took my hand and said something that has stayed with me ever since:
"Look after yourself, no bugger else will."
At the time, I thought he meant being independent.
Now I realise he meant something much deeper.
In this episode, I reflect on how those six simple words have helped me believe in myself.
Sometimes the people we love leave us with exactly what we need.
We just don't understand it until years later.
If you've ever doubted your own judgement, wondered whether you're allowed to choose a different path, or needed permission to put yourself first…
...this one's for you.

You Cannot Rebuild Your Life
Quite a bold statement, but bear with me here...
After divorce, bereavement, burnout, illness, redundancy or any major life event, the person you were before no longer exists. Trying to piece yourself back together can leave you constantly chasing a version of yourself that's gone.
What if, instead, you stopped trying to rebuild your old life... and started creating a new one?
In this episode, I explore why the strongest foundations don't come from putting the pieces back together, but from deciding who you want to become next.
Sometimes the greatest opportunity isn't rebuilding what's been lost.
It's creating something entirely new.
If this podcast has helped you over the years and you'd like to support the show, you can buy me a coffee or pop a few pennies into the PayPal pot. Every little helps, and I'm hugely grateful.
